• Added Volumetric Flow (actual) as a display option

The big news for this version is the addition of

• the NRTL chemical property package and
• over 5600 library compounds

to the Alph Professional option. This greatly increases the range of problems that can be tackled with Alph.

Improved Compound Selection Window

The compound selection dialog now has three views:

• Library - show the compounds in the currently selected family
• Family - choose the family of compounds to display (only two options except for Alph Professional)
• Installed - the currently selected compounds

The order of library compounds can now be rearranged using the new Installed view. Also now on an iPad, you can no longer exit this window by just tapping the background diagram as you can with most other windows. This is to prevent losing the selection you may have pending.

Steam97

Folks with the Steam or Alph Professional options now can choose between the Steam95 and Steam97 packages.

iTunes File Sharing

You can now view the cases stored on your device and transfer them to and from your computer using iTunes. Simple select your device from the left side menu, the Apps tab and then select Alph in the file sharing section. Note, please be sure and run Alph at least once before doing this as it has some housekeeping to do to move the previous cases to the correct location.

IOS 4 Task Switching

While background crunching of big problems would not be advisable on a mobile device, Alph now supports the quick task switching of IOS 4.

Export of Envelope Results

The input definition page of the phase envelope window now has a button that allows you to email the quality line points as a CSV (comma separated variables) file suitable for importing into spreadsheets etc.

Fixes

• Perhaps more a feature than a fix, but now mwtarray will be returned for a fluid even it cannot be calculated. This is very useful for specifying mass fractions.
• Changed the standard liquid density basis from 25 C to 60 F to be in accord with VMGSim and reflect this is mainly used in the oil industry.
• Fixed a problem where, on occasion, switching cases without shutting down the program could result in incorrect results or property package errors.
• Fixed problems with undo and hypothetical compounds
• Fixed a problem where the tower would sometimes not converge after a reflux change.
• Fixed problem on the iPad, where objects on the diagram could not be tapped to open after leaving the damping factor field of the tower, until another formula field was entered and left.
• Fixed problem where the Alph Professional was not including steam package option
• Various minor interface issues fixed and polished
